GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS
DAVINCI SLOW CONTROL VALVES are hydraulically operated diaphragm valves engineered to provide gradual and controlled opening and closing of the main valve. By regulating the speed at which the valve moves, the control circuit minimizes abrupt changes in water velocity and helps maintain smoother hydraulic conditions throughout the pipeline.
The principal advantage of this valve is its ability to reduce pressure surges, water hammer, vibration, and mechanical stress caused by rapid changes in flow. The opening and closing times can be adjusted to suit the operating requirements of the installation, providing greater protection for pipelines, pumps, fittings, and other connected equipment.
Unlike conventional isolation valves that may operate too quickly under changing system conditions, the valve performs a progressive hydraulic movement without requiring external electrical power. Its controlled response helps improve network stability, reduces operational noise, and contributes to a longer service life for the overall installation.
Available in sizes from DN50 to DN800 mm, the valve is constructed with a high-strength ductile iron body, offering excellent resistance to internal pressure and demanding service conditions. All iron components are protected with a fusion-bonded epoxy coating to provide durable corrosion resistance in water distribution and industrial applications.
The internal mechanism incorporates a top- and seat-ring-guided stem and diaphragm assembly for stable movement, accurate alignment, and dependable operation. Its nylon-reinforced diaphragm is designed to withstand repeated operating cycles, while the corrosion-resistant stainless steel seat and disc-retainer ring ensure reliable sealing and extended durability.
The valve’s globe-pattern body provides excellent modulation characteristics and smooth hydraulic performance. Adjustable pilot components and needle valves allow the opening and closing speeds to be configured according to the characteristics of the pipeline. When fully closed, the valve provides drip-tight shut-off, preventing unwanted water passage.
The design also enables straightforward access to the internal components. Inspection and maintenance can be carried out without removing the valve body from the main pipeline, helping reduce downtime, labour requirements, and maintenance costs.
DAVINCI SLOW CONTROL VALVES are widely used in municipal water distribution networks, pumping stations, irrigation systems, water treatment facilities, reservoir inlet and outlet lines, industrial plants, mining operations, HVAC and cooling systems, high-rise buildings, and fire protection networks. They are particularly suitable for installations with long pipelines, high operating velocities, frequent valve operations, or equipment that could be affected by sudden hydraulic transients.
Manufacture and performance comply with EN 1074-5, with design and testing conducted in accordance with BS EN 1074-5, ISO 5208, BS EN 12266-1, and BS EN 558-1. Flanged connections are available in PN10, PN16, PN25, and ANSI Class 150, while face-to-face dimensions conform to EN 558-1, Series 1.
Designed for water service, the valve is available with pressure ratings of 1.0 MPa, 1.6 MPa, and 2.5 MPa and is suitable for operating temperatures between −10 °C and 80 °C. Pressure testing is performed according to EN 12266-1, Leakage Rate A, including a body test at 1.5 × PN and a seat-tightness test at 1.1 × PN.
The valve complies with the applicable requirements of the EU Pressure Equipment Directive 2014/68/EU. Products up to DN300 are excluded according to Article 1, §2(b), while sizes from DN350 to DN600 are classified under Risk Category I, Module A.
A complete range of speed-control pilots, needle valves, filters, pressure gauges, isolation valves, and hydraulic control accessories is available to adapt the operating sequence to specific installation requirements. Optional V-Port trim can enhance control under low-flow conditions, while a double-chamber configuration may be supplied for applications requiring additional operating stability. Please consult the factory for customized opening and closing times, alternative media, or special hydraulic conditions.
